I've been following Elena Helfrecht for a while now and I keep being very impressed by her work. It's intimate, beautiful and often grim or bloody.
Many of the not safe for work images feature lots of skin, but not in a pin up or burlesque manor. Often the skin is scarred, there is a bit of blood in the frame or a dead insect placed on a tongue.
The dark imagery also often is in contrast to the, very well executed, photographic style. Well lit, at times high key images that almost seem fashion like contain the dark themes.
