Copenhill - Amager Bakken
A few weeks back we visited Copenhill or Amager Bakken for the first time. It’s a garbage incineration and energy plant in Copenhagen, designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group.
It’s equipped with multiple ski and snowboard slopes, appropriate lifts and some trail running stairs on the side of it.
The slopes can be used throughout the summer since they’re made out of some rubbery all weather mats and the power / heating plant produces more clean water than it produces through some awesome filter tech.
If you’re not skiing or snowboarding you can also go in and up for free, enjoy the view or take a ton of photos.
At the foot of the little artificial hill that stretches around 90 meters (plus chimney) into the Copenhagen skyline of the industrial part of town.
Opened in 2019, it has quickly made its way into the hearts of winter sport and eco friendly tech fans of the city alike.
